VP, Diversity & Inclusion
Ellen Torbert serves Southwest Airlines as the Vice President of Diversity & Inclusion. She is responsible for providing strategic leadership in support of the company’s diversity and inclusion goals and objectives, focusing on Employee engagement and talent development, enhancing individual and company performance. In developing Global D&I strategies for the business, she works closely with the Supply Chain Management, Marketing, Community Affairs & Grassroots, and People Departments; as well as leads the corporate Diversity Council.
Ellen’s career consists of 27 years with Southwest Airlines. Prior to leading the Diversity & Inclusion Department, 24 years was dedicated to the Customer Support & Services (formerly Reservation) Department where she served as Vice President from 2000-2011.
In 2001, Ellen was the recipient of the V. Alyce Foster Trailblazer Award; in 2012, she was featured in Engineering & Information Technology Magazine as a Diversity Thought Leader; ion 2013 she was presented with the WTS Rosa Parks Diversity Leadership Award; and she was recently recognized with the 2014 Most Powerful and Influential Woman of Texas Award.
