Philadelphia Diversity Council Hosts 2016 College Diversity Summit

Philadelphia, PA – On October 29th, 2016 the Pennsylvania Diversity Council hosted its Inaugural College Diversity Summit at Villanova University’s Connelly Center. This event aims to empower college students with real-world knowledge not learned in the classroom, and the tools to be successful in a diverse job market. This year’s event theme was “The Yellow Brick Road to Success.”

The half-day event opened with a career fair where students had the opportunity to engage with recruiters and explore local job opportunities. Attendees then heard from keynote speaker Keith Bethel, Chief Growth Officer at Aramark. Following Bethel’s address, students attended panelist-led discussions covering topics such as “All You Need to Know About Leveraging Social Media,” “The Beginner’s Guide to Getting a Great Job,” and “You’ve Landed the Job, Now What? The Ins & Outs of Transitioning into the Workforce.”

“We are very pleased with the success of the College Diversity Summit, said Dennis Kennedy, Founder & CEO of the National Diversity Council. “We hope all of our attendees left this event with an increased sense of confidence in their ability to achieve success as future leaders of corporate America.”

The Pennsylvania Diversity Council would like to thank the event sponsors for their support of the Philadelphia College Diversity Summit: Aqua, Campbell’s, PPL, PhillyCollege.org, SEI, and Unisys. Special thanks to all the volunteers, speakers and attendees for helping to make this event a success.
