Karen HillKaren D. Hill is Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer for Transamerica Life Insurance Company. In this role, she is responsible for setting the diversity and inclusion strategic direction for the company. Her primary areas of focus will be facilitating the building of a diverse workforce, partnering with community based organizations comprised of diverse stakeholders, and promoting an inclusive culture. To build on Transamerica’s commitment to diversity and inclusion, Karen leads Transamerica’s Diversity and Inclusion Strategy Board. This Board is dedicated to creating a structure where inclusion is woven into corporate business practices, and advancing diversity awareness both internally and externally.

Hill re-joined Transamerica in 2008 after an absence of 15 years, bringing with her a vast range of executive experience in a variety of industries. In her last role with the Transamerica as Senior Vice President, Human Resources she led a team of 20 responsible for supporting over 2,000 employees nationwide, in the areas of HR strategy, talent management, employee relations, HR systems and infrastructure improvement. Throughout her career, Hill has served as a key member of management, contributing particular expertise in talent management, employee engagement, executive coaching, and merger/acquisition initiatives.

Prior to returning to Transamerica, Hill held senior level posts at Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures Entertainment, British Petroleum and American Express. She also ran a consulting firm geared to meeting the human resources and business development needs of a wide range of clients, including Fox Networks Group, Web Wise Kids and the National Human Resources Association.

Hill holds an MBA from the Anderson Graduate School of Management, University of California, Los Angeles, and a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management from California State University, Long Beach. She also holds a Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) designation and has completed the Center for Creative Leadership executive program. In addition, she has a certification in Strategic Human Resources Leadership from Cornell University.

Hill has been a guest lecturer on Leadership and Diversity at Pepperdine University and she is an active member of the Society for Human Resources Management, the Human Resources Strategy Forum, the National Human Resources Association, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and Web Wise Kids.
