Karen D. Hill is an accomplished Human Resources executive who focuses first on the organization holistically and then develops aligned people strategies that produce positive results. She is a strategic business partner who collaborates with senior leadership to develop and evolve cultures that improve employee engagement. Her expertise in design and delivery of unique solutions to transform cultures, from the boardroom to frontline teams, has consistently produced quantifiable results. She has a keen understanding of the power of technology to engage employees and improve productivity.
As the Vice President, Human Resources for Otis College of Art and Design, Karen is leading culture transformation efforts and directing comprehensive short-term and long-range human capital strategies. She is a member of both the Global Initiatives Board with a charter to expand the reach of the college around the world, as well as the Finance & Investment Board responsible for ensuring the diversity of revenue streams and fiscal health.
Karen was previously the Leader of Diversity and Inclusion at Transamerica Life Insurance Company, where she facilitated building a diverse workforce, partnered with community organizations, and promoted an inclusive culture. She also created and led Transamerica’s Diversity and Inclusion Strategy Board focused on finding ways to weave inclusion into internal and external business practices. Karen previously held senior posts at Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures Entertainment, British Petroleum, and American Express.
In her consulting practice, Professional Savvy Consulting, she provides services geared to meeting HR/diversity & inclusion, education, and business development needs for clients including Fox Networks Group, USC, Magic Johnson Entertainment, Web Wise Kids and the National Human Resources Association.
Karen holds an MBA from the Anderson Graduate School of Management, University of California, Los Angeles, and a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management from California State University, Long Beach. She also holds a Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) designation and has completed the Center for Creative Leadership executive program. In addition, she has a certification in Strategic Human Resources Leadership from Cornell University.
