The Florida Diversity Council hosted its 2016 Orlando Women in Leadership Symposium at the Wyndham Orlando Resort on March 31st. This annual event attracted approximately 200 attendees who gathered to hear from local executives about their experiences and insights on the event theme of Securing Your Place at the Table.
“It is important to create a forum where corporate leaders can share insights from their personal success and leadership experience as professionals” said Dennis Kennedy, Founder and Chair of the National Diversity Council. “This type of event gives women in Orlando the perfect opportunity to gain knowledge and advice from local executives amongst their fellow aspiring leaders.”
The half-day event featured multiple business leaders from various organizations discussing topics such as “Developing Political Savvy,” “Positioning Yourself for the Next Big Opportunity,” and “Finding and Owning Your Voice.” The symposiums began with a welcome and formal introduction of the participating panelists. Each panelist was able to address a specific topic of discussion in addition to engaging with the other panelists regarding the panel topics. Event attendees enjoyed the opportunity this year to pose questions to the panelists throughout the symposium during each topic discussion.
The Florida Diversity Council would like to thank the event sponsors for their support of the Women in Leadership Symposium: Wyndham Vacation Ownership, Lockheed Martin, GameStop, and UCF Continuing Education. Special thanks to all the volunteers, speakers and attendees for helping to make this event a success.
